Butter Cookies

These are storebought butter cookies that come in a round tin. They are inexpensive and taste quite good. I used to eat them all the time as a child and haven't had them for many years, so I thought I would purchase a tin to snack on. I must say that they don't taste exactly the same as they used to, but I'm not sure if it is my tastebuds that have changed or the butter cookie recipe itself. One thing that is different is that the rectangular and the pretzel shaped cookies used to have coarser sanding sugar on them and now they have a finer sugar on them.

i love butter cookies, love baking them and love receiving them as present during the holidays. you're right however about the taste, perhaps they tweaked the recipe a bit in the last fifteen years.

I always found that the coarse sugar ones tasted good, while the plain ones were bleh. I guess there wasn't enough sugar in them? So if they've removed the coarse sugar, I can't imagine they taste very good anymore.

I love cookies, especially ones with nuts. I have to say I miss the courser sugar, too. Guess if we want the sugar a little more course, we need to make them from scratch. LOL

Yum, these are definitely in my top five -- I have 5 daughter's and 4 of them are (or have been) Girl Scouts, and so I also love Girl Scout cookies - Thin Mints are my favorite :) I'm also a huge fan of Oreo cookies! I can't help it, they are so good.

I'm a new follower via the weekend hop!
